WITB: Emiliano Grillo, 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge

May 29th, 2023

WITB for Emiliano Grillo, 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge winner at Colonial Country Club? With a full set of Callaway, Cobra wedges and his Odyssey putter, Emiliano won with birdie in the second hole of the playoff. Getting there was both entertaining and sad. Grillo had a two-shot lead when he sliced his drive into the concrete ditch on 18. A memorable twist of fate for Grillo’s ball, it was caught by the water and traveled nearly 300 yards almost back to the tee. With fans standing by and humorously shouting “stop,” “bite,” “mark it;” Grillo chose the option to take a drop at where the ball last crossed into the hazard. Another surprise, Grillo opted to drop on the cart path, which was outside the hazard, helping him punch underneath a tree branch and back into the fairway. He ended with double bogey dropping back to a 3-way tie. Harry Hall, a PGA Tour rookie who led most of the tournament, was also tied at -8 under. In the last group with Schenk, Hall finished bogey after pulling his drive into the water. Schenk got his par. This left Schenk and Grillo for the playoff. Winning WITB: Emiliano Grillo, 2023... WITB: Brooks Koepka, 2023 PGA Championship

May 22nd, 2023

WITB for Brooks Koepka, 2023 PGA Championship winner, securing his 5th major PGA Tour title. Starting with a 1-shot lead Sunday, Koepka quickly pulled ahead with three birdies in the first four holes. Victor Hovland gave chase all day, staying 1 back until a bunker disaster on 16. May 11th, 2023

Tour the best iron shafts for 2023 – featuring multiple new steel and graphite iron shafts and removing discontinued shafts. While you do, remember that selecting the best iron shaft or iron-shaft combination starts with knowing your game. For simplicity, we’ve grouped iron shafts by swing speed. However, so much more goes into fitting the right shaft – tempo, transition, release, launch angles, spin, swing path and more. Without a custom club fitting and knowing your numbers, trusting off the shelf or manufacturer suggested shafts often lead to frustration and disappointment. New Enhancements for Iron Shafts The newest irons and shafts in 2023 are producing greater distance, forgiveness and accuracy for our customers because we properly tune the iron and shaft combination to your handicap and swing dynamics. We’ve put the newest iron shafts from Aerotech, ACCRA, Fujikura, Project X, True Temper, Graphite Design, KBS, OBAN, Mitsubishi, Nippon and others through rigorous testing. Choose your handicap range or swing speed to see how each iron shaft stacks up. 2023 Guide to Best Iron Shafts Recommendations are based on distances, trajectory and spin generated within 4 categories of swing speeds. Fujikura AXIOM Iron Shafts Review

May 8th, 2023

We just completed our Fujikura Axiom iron shafts review. Wow, we are impressed and here’s why – consistency, feel, technology and trends. The trend away from heavy steel shafts (over 90-grams) to heavy graphite shafts continues. Fujikura AXIOM joins UST Mamiya Dart and Recoil, Mitsubishi Chemical Group MMT, Aerotech SteelFiber, OBAN and KBS TGI graphite in this line. Fujikura incorporates the breakthrough VeloCore Technology used in Ventus shafts into the new Axiom iron shafts. They also took a unique approach to optimize for three shaft profiles – long-irons, mid-irons and short-irons. For example, Axiom’s LP (long parallel) is optimal for 2- through 4-irons. MP (mid parallel) is optimal for 5- through 7-iron. And SP (short parallel) is optimal for 8-iron through PW or AW. This level of customization is a club fitters dream, further tightening dispersion across the entire set of irons. Read: AXIOM Shaft Specs | View Full AXIOM Details The intent of these graphite or multi-material shafts is to reduce the vibration in the shaft without sacrificing feel. Vibration is often tied to pain in joints, soreness and even fatigue in the hands. The latest generation of graphite iron shafts deliver the feel of steel without the effects... Read More

WITB Wyndham Clark 2023 Wells Fargo Championship

May 8th, 2023

WITB: Wyndham Clark, 2023 Wells Fargo Championship winner, is a local Denverite. We couldn’t be happier to see one of our local golfers winning on tour. Besting Xander Schauffele by 4 and shooting a final-round 68, Clark was solid all week shooting 67, 67, and 63 in the first three rounds. Much of tour commentary and interviews focused on Wyndham’s mental fragility. In one interview, Wyndham recited his caddy, coaches and mentors with the advice “you don’t have to be perfect … and stay patient … and really stay in the present.” Great mental advice that is applicable to golfers of all abilities. There’s a bit more to Wyndham’s story – “Strokes Gained.” He was #1 in Approach-to-Green, Tee-to-Green and Total; #3 in Putting; and hit a staggering 80.56% of greens-in-regulation, tied for 1st – skip to Strokes Gained details. WITB: Wyndham Clark, 2023 Wells Fargo Championship Winning Equipment With the help of PGA Tour, GolfWRX and Titleist, we go inside Wyndham’s winning set of Titleist & TaylorMade clubs. And, again we examine the importance of Stokes Gained by Greens in Regulation and Putting. Driver: Titleist TSi3 9-degree with an Accra TZ6 ST M5 shaft. The Accra TZ shafts rarely... Read More
