Just heard from one of our amateur players, a 4 handicap, who had a career low round of 67 at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. We put a couple of UST Elements Wind shafts in his driver and 3 wood, and KBS Tour shafts in his RBZ Tour hybrids and Mizuno MP-R wedges. Congratulations, Greg!

Fujikura is back on track with a solid mid-price point shaft. The EXS line-up includes woods, hybrids and irons in various weights and profiles that allow us to really dial in our customers when we fit them. The EXS line is a great complement to the Motore Speeder line-up of premium shafts. Now we can build clubs with low-launch, mid-launch, or high-launch shafts that match what we are trying to accomplish for our golfers. These shafts run $135 installed.

Tiger Switched Back To Heavier Driver Shaft Before Winning the Player’s Championship

Tiger Woods switched back to his old standby Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Whiteboard 73 X shaft before the Player’s Championship last week. As told to The Tour Van, “I went back to my old shaft,” he said. “It helps not being hurt. I’m able to generate the speed like I used to, and I’m able to handle that shaft again.” That being said, Tiger kept the driver in the bag for most of the tournament, relying instead on his 3 and 5 wood with the Mitsubishi Rayon Diamana Blueboard 103 X shafts. If you are struggling with consistency, maybe you should try heavier shafts. Standard, off-the-rack clubs usually come with light shafts in both drivers and fairway woods. If you look at the options for better players with faster swing speeds and an aggressive transition, the TP shaft versions for TaylorMade for example, offer several 75 gr driver shafts and 85 gr fairway wood shafts as options. Better yet, go to a custom fitter and find out what shafts fit YOUR game.

Michelle French and Mizuno are Playing Famously

What an honor to fit Michelle French, one of the winners of the Mizuno Play Famously campaign. Selected in the second group of four, Michelle is one of only 12 amateur players from around the USA to be selected for this award. By trying the JPX 825 irons and writing a summary of her experience, Michelle was selected to get a complete set of Mizuno JPX 825 woods, hybrids, irons and wedges, and play in the JPX Invitational in Atlanta this fall. “I am so excited to have been selected”, said Michelle. “I am hoping to meet and even play with Stacy Lewis! That would be awesome.” Michelle is from the Denver area, works for the West Denver Metro Fire Department and plays regularly at Foothills Golf Club. Michelle as pretty good stick so look out Stacy! Well, it is hard to believe I have been following my passion for 16 years in the golf business. My passion for golf actually started 40 years ago when a good friend of mine convinced me to learn to play golf. My first set? Hogan Apex blades…yikes! We have seen a lot of changes in 16 years, not only in equipment, but the tools we use to evaluate our customers. High-speed and High-Definition video give us a lot of new information. Launch Monitors mean we know a lot more about club head delivery and launch characteristics. Internet and smart phones mean we can share information instantaneously and help fit golfers around the globe. Pretty exciting stuff! Can’t wait to see what the next 16 years bring!

The MygolfShafts Lite app is free and is for casual users that are confused by all of the shaft options available in the marketplace. Kuro Kage Prototype Ti Ni (Titanium Nickel) with ion coating – Review

What a sweet looking shaft! The pic here does not really do the cosmetics justice. Just completed our 23 point static evaluation and here is what we found. The shaft was designed to have a similar profile to the Kuro Kage black but with the TiNi to add stability. Our testing shows almost identical profiles of the black and the TiNI Prototype but the TiNI is a little lower in torque so it should feel more stable. The 60 is about 5 grams lighter than the black 60. As usual, the Shaft Quality Index (SQI) is a 5 star (out of 5). Our next step is to put the 60 and 70 to the test and see how they compare to the black and other like shafts in terms of launch, spin and feel.

TrackMan Ball Flight Monitor Use on the PGA Tour is About Fitting

April is Fitting Month and by the looks of things, the PGA Tour players are all about getting their equipment dialed in using the Trackman ball flight monitor. We have two Trackman units and use them both indoors and outdoors. They are extremely accurate and measure the critical fitting attributes like ball speed, club speed, launch angle, spin rate, angle of attack, landing angle and dynamic loft.
