Scottie Scheffler wins his 2nd Masters Tournament in a row!  The number one player in the world solidified his legacy as he played solid throughout the tournament! While his putting has taken some hits this year, no one can take away what he has done from tee to green. No. 1 – Strokes Gained Overall No. 2 – Strokes Gained Off the Tee No. 1 – Strokes Gained Approach to Green So what are his secrets other than unbelievable talent and composure? Tee it High and Let it Fly! In his post round press conference Scottie was candid about teeing it high and letting it fly!  He said, the fairways at Augusta are fairly wide so penalties were not that significant.  And, the longer off the tee you are, the shorter your shot to the green.  That allowed him to hit very select shots into the greens.  Most of our golfers want to hit more GIR this year so here are a couple posts to read on getting more distance off the tee! Get Fit then Shoot Your Age!

March 18th, 2024

If you want to shoot your age, maybe a good club fitting and the right clubs will help!  That has happened to many of our customers but the most recent happened early in 2024.  Tom H. came in for an iron fitting as his irons were a little old and he needed to fill the gaps above his long irons.  We fit him into a new Callaway AI Smoke 4 hybrid and TaylorMade Qi 10 irons with a little bit firmer shaft and properly matched gapping between his irons and hybrid.  Now, Tom is a 10 handicap but plays a lot of golf.  He also is 77 years old!  So when we got the call about his new clubs, we were thrilled for him: “I had to call and tell you how much I love the new clubs.  The consistency and accuracy is amazing!  I shot two over par yesterday and one over par today!  The hybrid is the perfect distance that I was looking for.  Thank you for a great job fitting this new set for me!” Tom H., Colorado Love it when our customers shoot their age!  I am hoping I can live long enough to do that!!... February 24th, 2024

New Wedges? Make Sure You Have The Right Shafts. If you are thinking about getting new wedges, make sure you have the right shafts.  What shafts should you play in your wedges?   The very short answer is play the same shaft in your wedges as you do in your irons.  But, boy do we see a lot of variation of what is in our players bags. “Your advice on the proper shaft for wedges is spot-on!  Keep up the great work.”  Ken Everrett, PGA Professional and Instructor, Snowmass Club, Colorado. Stock Wedge Shafts First off, most wedges you buy off the rack will have a standard heavy steel wedge shaft like a True Temper Dynamic Gold.   Titleist uses an S200 (130gr) in their SM10 wedges, Callaway uses the new Spinner Wedge 115 (115 gr) in the Jaws Raw, while Mizuno uses the DG S400 (132 gr) in the T24 and KBS Hi Rev 2.0 (115 gr) in the ES-23.  Only if you are playing a steel shaft in your irons like the Dynamic Gold, KBS Tour, or Nippon Modus 3 120 will the weight and flex of these wedge shafts come close to matching you.  If you are playing...
