Get fit or fix my swing? This is probably the most asked question we get in our fitting studio. The very short answer? Do Both! We work with several of the top instructors and we can make recommendations for the best coach in your area. But first of all, we really do suggest you get fit for your clubs! What Our Golfers Want From a Club Fitting The most common response when we ask our customers what they want from their golf game is CONSISTENCY! This is a crazy sport where you can have up to 14 clubs to hit one ball. The chances of all of those clubs matching your swing? Slim to none! The five most important club attributes are club length, shaft weight, shaft flex, shaft profile (trajectory and spin), and swing weight. The most common attributes golfers look at are length and weight. The lightest, longest and stiffest club in your bag is your driver. The shortest, softest flex and heaviest clubs will be your wedges. In between, the clubs will vary by weight, flex and length. Below is a chart of what we may see in a golfers bag when testing these five attributes... Read More

Measuring Golf Swing Dynamics -Using the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer
July 22nd, 2024Measuring Golf Swing Dynamics is a very important part of the golf club fitting process. In our in-person fitting sessions, we utilize the Mizuno Shaft Optimizer to measure tempo, transition, kick point and release. This information is fundamental to our BGF Fitting System and TrueFitClubs Fitting Wizard to make more accurate shaft recommendations. Swing Dynamics – Tempo, Transition and Release Most golfers are not actually sure about their swing dynamics. They think their tempo is fast when actually it is probably pretty standard. In our fitting recommendations, it is very clear how the swing dynamics of Tempo, Transition and Release can impact shaft selections. In general, the smoother your swing, the softer and lighter shaft you can play to optimize distance, accuracy and consistency. We call this a “Swinger” type of swing. On the other had, if you have a faster tempo, short and aggressive back swing, you will need a firmer, and potentially heavier shaft to optimize your results. We call this a “Hitter” type of swing. See more on this topic at this blog on swing dynamics. Mizuno Shaft Optimizer Mizuno has been at the forefront of the effort to help determine the proper shafts with their Shaft... Read More

Dad’s Turn to Shine!
July 6th, 2024Now it’s Dad’s turn to shine! After raising two great kids as both ranked swimmers and golfers, it is now Tim Painton’s turn to shine. Tim came in with a set of clubs his father had built for him roughly 30 years ago. As a former basketball player, he certainly needed longer clubs so we put him through a fitting and dialed him in to a new TaylorMade Qi 10 driver and hybrid, Ping G430 irons and Cleveland RTX 6 wedge. In jest, Tim brought in a Medicus dual-hinge training driver we helped his son Spencer use when he was first fit with us in 2009. Crazy picture…Driver Fitting Gone Bad!! Great family! As a side note, Tim has a great business and has helped us with all of our voice and data communication needs. Thanks for all you do Tim and Spencer.
