Get fit or fix my swing? This is probably the most asked question we get in our fitting studio. The very short answer?
Do Both!
We work with several of the top instructors and we can make recommendations for the best coach in your area. But first of all, we really do suggest you get fit for your clubs!
What Our Golfers Want From a Club Fitting
The most common response when we ask our customers what they want from their golf game is CONSISTENCY!
This is a crazy sport where you can have up to 14 clubs to hit one ball. The chances of all of those clubs matching your swing? Slim to none! The five most important club attributes are club length, shaft weight, shaft flex, shaft profile (trajectory and spin), and swing weight. The most common attributes golfers look at are length and weight. The lightest, longest and stiffest club in your bag is your driver. The shortest, softest flex and heaviest clubs will be your wedges. In between, the clubs will vary by weight, flex and length.
Below is a chart of what we may see in a golfers bag when testing these five attributes in their bag:
How can you have a consistent swing with clubs that are so far off in weight, flex, length and shaft profile. Short answer? You Can’t.
How We Can Predict and Fit Your Clubs
Our fitting system uses a predictive model that will recommend these five club attributes so that all clubs in your bag should feel and perform consistently! And, the best part is we custom build your clubs to the exact specs we confirm in our fitting sessions. Here is a before and after graph of how we actually re-shafted a set of clubs to more consistent length, shaft weight, flex, profile and swing weight.
What if My Swing Changes?
The best news is that our fitting system really allows you to change your swing with no impact, or minimal impact on your fitting results. Why you ask? Because we concentrate on the most important equipment fitting aspects: Club length, shaft weight, shaft flex, shaft profile (trajectory and spin) and swing weight. These are fundamental and will not change unless you gain or lose a lot of weight, go on or off a strength and conditioning program, or have an injury. That is also why we do a lifetime fitting. Even more important for our junior and senior golfers!
So, get fit and get your equipment matched to YOUR swing. Even if it changes, the clubs we build for you will create a more consistent swing and allow you to improve faster! Better Golf…Faster! Get it?
