WITB: Nelly Korda Wins 2022 Pelican Women’s Championship

On fire. The 2022 Pelican Women’s Championship was won with a hard charging final round of 64 by Nelly Korda – she was on fire. Even where Nelly got into trouble off the tee or with approach shots, she more than recovered with her impressive putting and short game. This was Nelly’s first tournament since the 2022 Ascendant tournament where she missed the cut. She similarly missed the cut at the 2022 NW Arkansas Championship.

With the help of GolfWRX, LPGA and National Club Golfer, we go inside Korda’s winning equipment.

  • Top of the Bag. Driver: Titleist TSi1 10 degree with the Graphite Design Tour AD IZ 6 S shaft. 3-wood: Titleist TSi2 16.5 degree with the Fujikura Ventus Red 70 S shaft. 7-wood: Titleist TSi2 21 degree with the Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 75 S shaft. Hybrid: Ping G425 5 26 degree with a Fujikura Ventus Blue HB 7 S shaft.
Korda is one of the few players on tour that are playing the new Titleist TSi1 Driver versus the new TSR series. While the design is targeted to players with slower swing speeds looking to get more spin and launch, it’s helping Korda increase distance and definitively is helping her hit more fairways. • Irons: Titleist T100 2019 5-iron through PW with Aerotech SteelFiber i80cw F4 shafts.
  • Wedges: Vokey SM8 50, 54, 58 degrees with Aerotech SteelFiber i95cw S shafts.
Korda closely follows our recommended approach to shafting wedges but opts for a slightly heavier shaft. This is typical of players that are more feel players around the green. While the shaft is slightly heavier, overall swing weights can be maintained for consistent feel on full swings.
