NEW Cobra King Tour MIM Irons!

October 26th, 2020

Cobra Golf Introduces 2021 KING Tour Metal Injection Molded Irons   Cobra Golf has just unveiled its newest set of irons for 2021. The new KING Tour irons are not cast or forged but are made using a new innovative process called Metal Injection Molding (MIM) — the most precise manufacturing process for making irons. The MIM process is an evolution in manufacturing that is used to create the most precise and intricate shapes. The result is our purest, and softest feeling players iron that performs and looks unlike any other. Due to the manufacturing process, the clubs’ design is unlike irons from the past as they see shapes and curves only achievable using MIM. The KING Tour irons feature a tour-caliber cavity back, a compact shape, sleek topline, and a high-density tungsten toe weight. The result is a club that can accommodate the softest feeling players, all the while offering stability for off-center hits. SCHEDULE YOUR APPOINTMENT HERE TODAY TO TEST OUT THE NEW COBRA MIM IRONS! NEW Callaway Apex MB and X Forged 2021 Irons!

October 18th, 2020

2021 Callaway X Forged CB The X Forged CB is constructed from a forged 1025 carbon steel chassis and incorporates a multi-material weighting system to manipulate head weights without effecting exact CG placement. Beginning with the body, the housing of the hollow body design has the addition of external tungsten (standard at 17 grams) weighting system that can go up or down in weight depending on the needs of the player. The idea being that now Callaway has the opportunity to fine-tune swing weight without adding weight to the inside of the hosel, which is a common practice. The issue with that is it can adjust the CG of the golf club, resulting in inconsistencies throughout the set.   Tour Response “Very positive,” according to tour manager Jacob Davidson. “We have multiple staff players testing and/or putting them in play including Na, Kisner, Gooch, Garnett, and a few others.” … “Players are liking the meatier feel at impact and the added forgiveness all while keeping to what they can expect from an X Forged profile.”   2021 Callaway X Forged Forged CB specs Loft/Lie/Offset 3: 20/60/.135 4: 23/60.5/.130 5: 26/61/.125 6: 29/61.5/.115 7: 33/62/.110 8: 37/62.5/.105 9: 41/63/.095 PW: 45/63.5/.090... Bryson DeChambeau 2020 US Open Champion

September 21st, 2020

The naysayers said it couldn’t be done in a US Open but Bryson proved them all wrong.  His sub-par performance was the only one in the field.  Now, I am a bit of a scientist myself, but Bryson takes every aspect of his game to another level!  Here is how he did it! Bomb! After adding 40 pounds of muscle, Bryson also improved his club and ball speed.  Bryson is averaging 325 yards off the tee.  He is leading the PGA Tour in strokes gained off the tee as well.  Now he is experimenting with a 48 inch driver to add even MORE ball speed.  He wants to break 220 mph ball speed which could easily get him to 350-360 yards.  Crazy?  Mad?  He proved distance was key at the US Open. Gouge! While hitting only 41% of fairways (23 of 56), Bryson managed par or better on all four of his rounds.  His attacking style out of the major rough was crazy to watch but it worked.  No one else in the field seemed to be able to master not only the rough but the touch necessary around the green. And, Putt! I watched Bryson on the practice green at... Read More

Golf Digest 2020 Hot List Equipment – What’s Hot?

February 3rd, 2020

All of the Golf Digest 2020 Hot List clubs are in the catalog and ready to get fit!  Only 131 clubs out of 248 tested made the cut.  Some surprises that made it and some we were surprised did not make it.  Here are the ones YOU need to look at: Book Your Fitting Here! Drivers The usual suspects are there from the big boys but you need to take a look at the Cleveland Launcher HB Turbo and Mizuno ST200.  Great performance and price points. Optimize your driver loft for more distance. Fairway Woods Again, the major companies hit Gold but you should really take a look at the Cobra Speedzone offerings and the Tour Edge Exotics 220. Hybrids No real surprises here but if you struggle with hybrids off the deck, the Cobra Speedzone with the rail system and the Titleist TS2 deserve a look. Picking the right hybrid shaft. Players Irons Some great irons here for good ball strikers.  Our favorites are the new Mizuno MP-20 MMC and TaylorMade P760. Players Distance Irons There are a LOT of irons in this category that got gold.  Too many to really separate them all so look, sound and feel... Read More

2020 PGA Merchandise Show – What’s Hot!

January 27th, 2020

The annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando was interesting, informative, and COLD!  Record low temps on Tuesday and Wednesday made Demo Day tough but we made it through!  Even though they said there were 43,000 attending the show, I think this was a bit smaller than years past, primarily because TaylorMade was not exhibiting. So here is our takeaway on what was new: Black Finish is Still Strong Irons (Ping i710) and shafts (Aerotech SteelFiber i95, LZ Steel Black) in black continue to be popular.  The new powder coat finishes on the shafts make them a lot more durable than in the past! Eco-Friendly Shafts from ACCRA With all of the difficulty in cleaning up manufacturing processes, ACCRA and True-Sport have made a series of shafts that do not us Nickel or Chromium.  The new Eco Steel shafts will be shipping to us for testing this week.  Profile should be similar to Rifle in the lighter weights and Project X in the heavier weights. Emphasis on Putting And why not?  Putting accounts for as many as 40% of your strokes!  TrackMan is releasing its new Putting Analysis software in March.  Stay tuned as we will be an early evaluation partner. ... Congratulations Tiger on his 82nd Tour Victory!

October 28th, 2019

Tiger Woods ties Sam Snead’s record with win No. 82 at Zozo Championship in Japan!  How many times has the World of Golf doubted a comeback by Tiger Woods?  And how many times has he proven us wrong? Looking confident, relaxed and sound, Woods led with 28 birdies and to top Hideki Matsuyama by three shots for his 82nd PGA Tour title, tying him with Sam Snead for most in history. Snead was 52 when he last won in 1965. Woods hasn’t had enough yet. His agent, Mark Steinberg, told him on the 18th green, “You never cease to amaze me.” Gary Woodland said, who played the final 36 holes with Woods, “He looked like the best player in the world.” In an effort to get No. 83, Woods’ next start on the Tour likely will be in the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, where he’s won eight times, including the 2008 U.S. Open.  The PGA Tour Wins Record will very likely be broken soon.  Maybe it’s time we stop doubting “the best player in the world” and start applauding him for all of his accomplishments!

Mizuno’s New MP-20 Line-Up!

August 8th, 2019

Mizuno’s MP line, used to win major tournaments by players like Tiger Woods,  is still going strong. The company has been busy producing the new MP-20 lineup that can pretty easily be deemed the most complete and impressive MP family to date. Comprised of three models including Blade, MMC, and HMB, the new MPs offer something for just about everyone including low-, mid- and even some higher handicap players looking for a players distance model. Here’s the breakdown on each iron – maybe one or a mixture of all three will fit your game. MP-20 Blade The three new irons in the MP family are designed to maximize a specific type of performance and blend together seamlessly, and the Blade exemplifies the control aspect of the group by providing the ultimate in feel and shot shaping ability all the way through the set. MP-20 MMC The MMC is the middle child in the MP-20 family and features a “player’s cavity” design complete with titanium plate, tungsten weight and a similar copper underlay to the MP-20 Blade. Aimed at better players who want improved long iron performance and more workable short irons, the newest MMC features a thinner topline than the... Read More
