SHANE LOWRY – 2019 Open Champion!

Wow!  That was some display of skill and courage on Sunday with the typical Irish elements pounding the course and the players.  I am sure visions of past meltdowns were nagging but he stayed pretty calm even after 3 bogeys in a row on the front nine.  Interestingly he won the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009 on the same course!  He also won the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

Lowry had become the crowd favorite since Northern Ireland’s stars fell out of contention, and he rode their support to clear with that course-record 63 Saturday before a battling 72 Sunday to end 15 under.  This was his first Major win.

So what’s in this years Open Champion’s Bag? He uses Srixon, TaylorMade, Cleveland, and an Odyssey putter.  True to form, he played driving irons in his 2 and 3 irons and a mixed bag of Z585 and Z785 irons.  If you have not checked out the Srixon line, schedule a fitting and try them out!
