The major manufacturers are introducing new wedges this fall in anticipation of winter in the southern United States and spring in the Southern Hemisphere! Lot of great new looking wedges to think about. Here is a rundown of the latest:
“Your advice on the proper shaft for wedges is spot-on! Keep up the great work.” Ken Everrett, PGA Professional and Instructor, Snowmass Club, Colorado.
Callaway Jaws MD5
As usual, Roger Cleveland has improved the look, feel and performance of the Mack Daddy with the new JAWS MD5. Improved spin with Groove-In-Groove technology in a soft 8620 forged carbon steel body. Over fifty loft/bounce options in 5 different grinds including a low (8*) bounce W grind. In Platinum Chrome or Tour Grey. We expect the JAWS MD5 to continue to be one of our best sellers.
Following on the heels of the very successful CBX cavity back wedge, the CBX2 is designed for players that need extreme forgiveness and improved distance. Available in 3 grinds in lofts from 46 – 60 degrees. A great wedge for mid to high handicap players, but can be played by any golfer!
Cobra MIM Wedge
Cobra is the first company to use Metal Injection Molding (MIM) to create an entire clubhead. This enables Cobra to minimize finishing as the molding process in 50% better in creating proper shape. Soft feel and available in 50 to 60 degree lofts. Interesting concept…nice addition for Cobra.
Honma T//World W4
Honma has always produced excellent irons and their T//World W4 wedges add to this exceptional line of clubs. A relatively limited selection of lofts from 48 to 60 degrees and 3 bounce options in the 56 degree. Voted Most Wanted Wedge 2019 by MyGolfSpy testers.
Miura Tour Wedge High Bounce
Miura has some of the best feeling forged wedges in the business. The addition of the High Bounce option allows you to pick a 54 – 62 degree wedge with 12 to 14 degree bounce. Welcome to nice splash shots from soft sand!
A really clean look and soft feel which is what Mizuno is known for. The T20 comes in White (satin), Blue Ion and Raw (54-62* only) finish. Soft 1020 carbon steel is the key to Mizuno’s superior feel and the Quad Cut grooves give golfers more spin control. Blue Ion in Right Handed only.
Ping Glide 3.0 with Eye2 Option
Ping is bringing back the Eye2 grind option on a couple of their higher lofted wedges. The look is classic Ping and performance is great as well. Available in 46-60 lofts with the Eye2 option in 54, 56, 58 and 60 degree lofts. Love the throw-back Eye2 option!
TaylorMade Milled Grind 2
An interesting new design is the Raw Face Technology that allows the face to rust over time while the rest of the club retains its original finish. The face technology also improves spin and control from the original Milled Grind wedges. Avaialable in Matte Black or Satin Chrome from 50 to 60 degrees.
