What's New: Inside D’Lance

The Colorado Boys High School Golf Championships are in the books for 2024!  Congratulations to all of the boys that made it through regionals an into the State Championships!  We are proud to have fit so many of the guys that made it to the championships. See The CHSAA Recap Here In 5A, Gavin Amella won the individual title shooting 9 under over two days to win by one stroke!  As he said in his interview, he is now the second in his family to win a state title.  The first was Taylor Rodriguez, winning the 4A title for Pueblo West.  Taylor is also a customer and former employee of D’Lance Golf!  Gavin was also named Colorado Boys Golfer of the Year and First Team All State.  Gavin has played in many state and national tournaments. Anthony Chen played well and helped his Cherokee Trail team to 2nd place in 5A. Jesse Hand finished 8th in the 5A championships for Chatfield, which finished in 6th place.  Jesse was also named to the First Team All State Boys High School Golf.  Also playing well for Chatfield was Peter (PJ) Howard. We were the first in the nation, maybe even the world to offer 24 Hour Indoor Golf Practice!

  Derek Hines passed away unexpectedly last week.  I first met Derek in 2006 when he was starting to compete in the World Long Drive Association events.  He was very competitive and worked hard at the sport.  He placed 3rd in the 2008 World LDA event in Mesquite!  He brought the LDA competition to Denver and hosted the Mile High Shoot-out numerous times.  His daughter Addison, was a fixture in these events kicking off the events with a drive when she was only 2 years old!  Addison is now one of the top Colorado High School golfers. Derek had two passions in life, besides his family of course:  Golf and Baseball.  After playing for Arvada West, Derek played baseball collegiately and was ultimately drafted by the Chicago Cubs.  After his baseball career, Derek came back to Arvada and started a youth baseball organization, Premier West.  Derek has coached and mentored thousands of baseball players, many who have gone on to do great things.  His son, Brody, is following in his footsteps and is already a great player.   Now it’s Dad’s turn to shine!  After raising two great kids as both ranked swimmers and golfers, it is now Tim Painton’s turn to shine.  Tim came in with a set of clubs his father had built for him roughly 30 years ago.  As a former basketball player, he certainly needed longer clubs so we put him through a fitting and dialed him in to a new TaylorMade Qi 10 driver and hybrid, Ping G430 irons and Cleveland RTX 6 wedge.  In jest, Tim brought in a Medicus dual-hinge training driver we helped his son Spencer use when he was first fit with us in 2009.  Crazy picture…Driver Fitting Gone Bad!!  Great family! As a side note, Tim has a great business and has helped us with all of our voice and data communication needs.  Thanks for all you do Tim and Spencer.
