We did a test of the new TaylorMade SLDR driver against the R1 and got some interesting results. While TaylorMade says you will need a higher loft in the SLDR due to the forward positioning of the sliding weights, our testing does actually bear this out. The SLDR launches about a degree lower than the R1 set to the same loft. We did find that spin was lower and smash factor with the SLDR was a little higher than the R1….probably added 5 to 10 yards. Shot dispersion and consistency of smash factor was a little better as well with the SLDR. So, if you did not get an R1 and still have an older generation driver, step up to the SLDR!
