Fitting Your Driver for Distance AND Accuracy

Well, nobody wants to sacrifice distance for accuracy, right?  Even the longest hitters still want to hit it longer….but straighter!  So what is our secret to fitting your driver for distance AND accuracy?

The Best Head Design

Yes, you may have to switch drivers this year as all of the manufacturers are starting to hype the forgiveness of their heads.  Last year, the Callaway EPIC had the highest MOI, meaning forgiveness on off-center hits.  Cobra has always had a very forgiving head design with their dual-roll that helps straighten out low heel and high toe shots.  Ping just announced the G400 MAX, the highest MOI head in golf.  And, of course, the Flex Face of the new TaylorMade M3 and M4 promises to reduce shot dispersion by up to 30%.  We have tested the EPIC, EPIC SZ, Cobra F8, and recently had a sneak peek at the M3 440.  Yes, these are ALL doing what they say…same (or more) distance with improved accuracy.  So if you have not had a new driver in say, 5 years, it is time to step up.

The Right Shaft

You knew I was going here, right?  The shaft is that proverbial transmission that take the power of your swing engine and delivers that to the ball.  The right weight, flex, length and shaft profile (trajectory and spin) can make all the difference in the world in both accuracy and distance.  Smooth tempo players can play lighter shafts (50, 60 gram) while stronger, faster tempos (John Rahm) will need 70+ gram shafts.  That’s where a good fitter comes in.  One that looks as tempo, transition, release point as well as club speed, ball speed and shot dispersion.  With thousands of shaft and head combinations, and our BGF Fitting System to eliminate guesswork, we can dial you in to tighter dispersion and more accuracy very quickly.

So, if you goal this year is to hit more fairways AND be one club shorter into the green, it’s time to think maximum MOI and the right shaft.  Better golf starts NOW!
