Ball Fitting Helps Pick Up 5-10 Yards

Just finished a ball fitting using our TrackMan II system for one of our cutomers.  The customer is currently playing the Titleist ProV1x and wanted to see if this was the optimum ball for both his irons and driver.  We tested the Srixon Z-Star XV, TaylorMade Penta 5, Callaway Tour Hex Black, Bridgestone Tour B330-RXS, and the Bridgestone Tour B330-RX.  Because the customer has club direction from right to left with a slightly open face to the path, he imparts spin that results in a pull-fade.  Therefore, we were looking for a ball that would help reduce his spin, maintain his launch angle and potentially increase distance with his driver.  Mission accomplished!  While the ProV1x was very good, both the Srixon Z-Star XV and the Callaway Tour Hex Black produced 5-7 yards more distance.  Interestingly, off a 7 iron, the distances were within 1.5 yards with those three balls but the spin was actually LOWER with the ProV1x.  Our suggestion was to try either the Z-Star or Hex Black and see how the performance was around the green if he wanted a little more distance control on his chips.  We can do the same for you so schedule a ball fitting today and see what ball YOU should be playing.
