Congratulations Zach Johnson – 2015 Open Champion

ZachJohnsonWITB2015jpg-681x508Pretty awesome Championship, I must say.  With a leaderboard as close as it was over the last two days, it really was case of whoever blinked first was out.  Zach did a super job and made some very clutch shots when he needed them.  What I think is interesting when looking at his bag, is that he has equipment that has performed well for him since 2013 and has not really changed out for much new.  He is playing Titleist 913 driver and fairway woods and Vokey SM4 wedges, both at least two years old.  He has stuck with Mitsubishi Rayon shafts in his woods and True Temper Dynamic Gold shafts in his irons and wedges.  Why?  The consistency and feel are paramount for tour players, especially when under pressure.  That is why we do not always recommend new clubs, but reshafting your existing equipment to optimize performance.  Consistency of shaft length, weight, flex, swing weight, loft and lie can improve your performance dramatically.  So if your clubs are only a couple years old, you like the look of them, but consistency, accuracy and distance are not what you expect, maybe it is time to get a complete club fitting and find out how we can make your old clubs even better than before!
