Why You Should NEVER Buy a Driver Off-the-Rack!

Ball Speed

In our testing, we  look at smash factor (Ball speed divided by Club Speed) to see the “hotness” factor of the head.  In our testing with other Tour Edge drivers, even the Xj1, we had a hard time getting close to the proverbial 1.50.  Not so with the EXS.  Now, mind you, smash factor is also determined by how well you are hitting the sweet spot and how well the shaft is working for you.  That is why we use our Fitting Wizard to dial you in to the proper shaft length, weight, flex, and tip profile.  With the properly fitted shaft, we consistently have seen smash factors in the 1.49-1.51 range, which creates the highest ball speed, regardless of club speed.

Look, Sound and Feel

One of the things we notice in our fittings is the “soft side”, i.e. look, sound and feel.  Previous EX models of the Tour Edge Exotics driver had a little higher pitched sound on off-center hits.  Not bad, but annoying to some.  Not so with the EXS.  I think the design of the carbon composite crown makes the big difference in the solid feel and sound.  The look is much more appealing from the top as well, in our opinion.  Again, this is a personal preference so if you do not like the look of the Callaway Rogue or Cobra F8, the EXS will not appeal to you either.

Performance

We always look at overall performance, i.e. shot dispersion, spin, distance, consistency.  The Tour Edge EXS is one of the more consistent performers we have seen in 2018.  Maybe it is the new design of the face which creates more gear effect on toe shots.  Maybe it is the new face plate that creates the proper loft with low spin and tighter shot dispersion.  Regardless, we cannot be happier with the direction Tour Edge is taking with the EXS line.

So, if you get a chance, test out the new Tour Edge EXS driver.  If not, trust us…with the proper shaft, the Tour Edge EXS will deliver a stellar performance!
