Today Story
24/7
almost a way of life. More businesses stay open all night to serve
a nation that never sleeps. The nation has an unofficial, new motto
that is humming along like a Timex on No-Doz: 24/7
. But there
are problems such as staffing and security. Not to worry. At 24-hour
golf range D'Lance Golf in Littleton, Colo., there are no night
workers. Members have card keys. Video cameras monitor the goings-on.
And if equipment is damaged or stolen, members' credit cards may
be automatically charged.

Some things
just don't make seem to make sense after midnight. Take golf, for
example. But at D'Lance Golf, there is an indoor range where you
can whack balls any hour of the day. You might find Chad Grow there
at the midnight hour. The 27 year-old electrician says he joined
the club specifically because it never closes. "My wife goes
to bed at 9 p.m.. She figures it's better that I golf at midnight
than hit the bars."

Owner Dan Sueltz
says 90% of his customers join the golf club because it is open 24/7.
He previously operated an indoor range that closed at 8 pm. but membership
increased 75% when he opened the 24-hour club. "Customers want
to go by their own schedules - not ours" Sueltz says. |
